The Alerts Control page will display a group of up to 45 buttons a user can click to launch a saved Emergency Event. The Alerts Edit page defines the name and actions in the Event. There several new options in DX 5.0:
- Up to 45 Alert buttons, using 4 columns of 15 buttons can be included on the Alerts Control page
- Alerts can also be added to DX Panel pages
- Multiple Alerts can be running at the same time.
When an Alert button is clicked:
- Click and Alert button to start the alert, the button will be highlighted in orange when active,
- All displays (or a display Zone) will change to appropriate channel and show the message.
- Click the actife button to restore displays to their previous power and channel settings.
The Alerts feature can impact more than displays. An RS-232 controller or integrated tuner/controller can send a message to presentation room control systems, triggering a programmed response by the system. In addition, an external control system can send Telnet commands that can trigger a saved Emergency Alert.
The Alerts Edit page functions the same way as scheduling Events. Alert behave differently than Events or Commands. When an Alert is sent, the iC-Net controllers will save their current power and channel settings. When an Alert ends, the controllers will return displays to their saved setting.
Display Express also responds to Ethernet Telnet commands that can activate and end alerts for EAS broadcasts. A small AMX or Crestron controll can accept GPI commands, then transmit the appropriate codes to Display Express over IP.
