The SSV-306R SignStream RAID Media Player is an integrated RAID 5 media player for broadcasting up to six HDTV media channels and display control commands over standard RF coax. Powered by Windows XP Pro, the media player is standardly equipped with 4 front-access 80 GB SATA II media drives in RAID 5 mode (233 GB total formatted - over 1,400 minutes of HD content), and 2 front-access 80 GB SATA II OS drives in RAID 1 configuration. Designed for maximum reliability and serviceability, the SSV-306R fits in 3 rack spaces, and includes sliding rack rails, 4 central cooling fans, a 4-port PCIe hardware RAID card, and onboard RAID 1 support. Driven by RAID technology, one media and one OS drive can fail without interrupting operation.
Options include:
- Larger SATA II media drives
- Additional SATA II media drives, up to 8 front-access
- Upgrade to 8-port hardware RAID 5 support
- Redundant power supply
Onboard browser-based SignStream Media Express software runs media playlists and display control scheduling from XML database files. When the playlist for one card is changed, the card restarts the list to the first file - other cards operate without interruption. The server can restart all playlists approximately 45 seconds after a Windows soft restart is initiated. SignStream media is stored in the form of 1080i ATSC MPEG2 Transport Streams. One or more SSM-ATSC Modulator Cards output the streams as both an off-air HD ATSC channel (14-22,) and analog NTSC channel (2-13, 95-99), or as cable frequencies. While the HD output is formatted for 16:9 aspect ratio, the 4:3 analog channel can be formatted for cropped, letterbox, or full-screen presentation.
Integrated media/display control Events can be launched manually or run by schedule. An Alerts page can interrupt programming for emergency alerts, running appropriate videos, powering on displays, and changing channels.
