Installation

Video and Power Connections

Video In: Connect BNC composite NTSC video (note that LED will flash when no video is detected)
Video Out: Connect BNC composite NTSC video (input video plus captions)
DC Pwr: Connect DC power supply, Green Pwr LED lights when DC power is active
Operation: Video output should include captions, CC1 mode (default setting)

Caption/Control Settings

4-position DIP switch sets caption and control operation
Default setting is all switches off (up): Latching Caption control, CC1 caption type

1. Set Control Options by setting Switch 4 On, then Switch 1 On or Off
   
   
   
   
2. Set Switch 4 to Off
3. Set Caption Options using switches 1 -3 for caption type CC1 - CC4 or TT1 - TT4
   
   
   
   
4. If you change Control Options, reset DIP switches to desired Caption Option

Control Port

Wire captive-screw terminal as shown above.

Pin 1: GND
Pin 2: Captions On/Off Input, latching or toggling, closure to GND, max 50 mA
  Latching Mode: Closure turns captions off, release to turn captioning on
  Toggling Mode: Momentary contact toggles between captions on and off
Pin 3: Captions Output, On = logic level low, max 50 mA, Off = Logic high, 5V through 10K pull-up resistor
Pin 4: Video Detect Output, Active= logic level low, max 50 mA, No Video = Logic high, 5V through 10K pull-up resistor
Pin 5: 12 VDC input, electrically identical to Pwr In, 11.5 to 16.5 VDC, 12 VDC typical (may be unregulated)

Control Applications

The Control Port is designed to operate with control systems such as AMX or Crestron, or a control panel with simple switches and LEDs. The Captions On/Off function can be controlled by a momentary or latching closure, and the Captions and Video Detect outputs can trigger a system input or light an LED.

Rack Mounting

The RK3 Rack Mount Kit makes it a snap to rack-mount and install many CR System Tool products. Simply attach the System Tool into one of three positions on the RK3, placing the included screws into pre-tapped holes in the back of the System Tool. All the connections are on one side, facing the back of the rack. Couldn't be simpler.
